Many things happened in the haute couture leading houses in 2015: Demna Gvasalia from Vetements was named creative director of Balenciaga following the Alexander Wang era, John Galliano was presented as the new Maison Margiela creative director and Alessandro Michele was given the control of Gucci. And it was then, nearly ten years ago, when Mayka Merino opened the Prada SS16 show in Milan. The year in which Rihanna shocked the MET Gala in a yellow Guo Pei gown, Merino was breaking ground in the fashion industry and introducing a new way of facing beauty, stretching standards to push them a bit further. Since that year, she has worked for the best houses, such as Loewe, JW Anderson, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Chanel, Valentino, and many others.
